Christine Ridenour

Environmental Science

Christine Ridenour is an Aquatic Environmental Scientist working for Natural Resources Canada in Devon, Alberta. She grew up in a small town on Vancouver Island and attended the University of Victoria for 2 years before transferring to the University of Guelph, Ontario where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Environmental Science in 2015. She obtained a Master of Science degree in Earth and Environmental Science from the University of Waterloo, Ontario in 2017, where her thesis research focused on studying the biogeochemistry of nutrients and harmful algal blooms in Lake Ontario. She moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 2017 where she worked as a Biological Technician at the University of Alberta for 7 months, before joining Natural Resources Canada in 2019 in her current position. For the last 3 years, she has been contributing to research on the fate and environmental impacts of oil spills in freshwater environments funded through the Ocean Protection Plan. Since June of this year, she has been leading a new research project focused on investigating the fate and environmental impact of oil spills in Arctic sediments and water.
