
Dr. Gleise M. da Silva
Beef Cattle Production
Dr. Gleise M. da Silva is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta. She obtained her B.Sc. in Animal Science at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (Brazil; 2015). In 2012 she attended Texas A&M University as an exchange undergraduate student and in 2014, she completed an internship at the North Florida Research and Education Center, University of Florida (United States). Dr. Silva obtained a M.Sc. (2017) and Ph.D. (2021) in Animal Science at the University of Florida, with focus on beef cattle nutrition and production. In August 2021, Dr. Silva joined the Department of Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Science at the University of Alberta as an Assistant Professor and the BCRC Hays Chair in Beef Production Systems. Her research goals are to identify nutritional and management strategies able to enhance productivity and sustainability of the beef cattle sector.
