Nicole Heshka

Nicole Heshka is a research scientist with Natural Resources Canada - a department of the federal government. After completing her Honors degree in Chemistry, she entered the Ph.D. program at the University of Alberta where she finished her doctorate degree in analytical chemistry in 2012. During this time, she focused on the separation and characterization of heavy oil samples, working on a wide range of projects falling under the subject areas of oil sands tailings, oil spill research and hydrocarbon upgrading. She has had wonderful mentors throughout her career and is passionate about supporting students to reach their goals and have roles in STEM, especially for women in under-represented job fields.
